I support ’s Defend the Guard Act in Michigan. As a former member of Congress (and someone with a national following), my focus has been on federal legislation over the last dozen years, but there are certainly important bills like this at the state level.

I got a response from MI Rep Beau LaFave's office.
"The issue with the bill is that it wrests control of the Michigan National Guard and gives it solely to Congress."

His sounds like a very contorted spin by the Rep.
If anything, it restores some of the states authority over their guard, by stating there are conditions congress must meet before calling the guard to combat.
For the last 20 years POTUS has has more more less sole control
