This afternoon, Republicans and Democrats will vote yes on a nearly $150 billion spending bill loaded with corporate subsidies and nonessential items. Media will largely ignore it. Each side will later disingenuously blame the other for our government’s growing deficits and debt.

I'm working class. My taxes went down and I'm now able to look at opportunities for more income due to tax cuts. You just want free stuff. Admit it. Maybe you are just jealous of people that work for it. Is Marx a hero to you?pic.twitter.com/Bgh86xJSzm

Ahhhh shut up about free stuff. Trump just gave billions of American taxpayers money to farmers. Just zip it.

Yeah, because 50% of America's annual spending is on social programs, let's definitely not talk about free stuff, that would be awkward.

Jesus.I just read trumps budget deficit is bigger than George W Bush’s during Iraq war. Nearly equal to deficit during recession 91 92. Soon to equal the much more severe 1981-82 Recession. Hes driving us off a cliff in a friggin golf cart. And the GOP gave him the go ahead

Boom. And that’s where it falls apart. I’ll give credit for more intellectual honesty than most of the GOP, but anyone honestly assessing the situation has to conclude: 1. We cannot afford to keep cutting taxes. 2. We cannot afford forever war. 3. Cannot afford tax expenditures.

So, we have to keep stealing more money from the citizens to pay for the corporate subsidies and other crap we waste the stolen money from the citizens on. Gotcha.

About 60% of the budget is spent on social programs. I don’t agree with the spending you speak of as well, but let’s not only talk about the things we don’t want. Let’s look at the whole picture. It all needs to stop.

How are social security and Medicare trust funds “social spending?” It’s the people’s money. It’s a workers trust fund.

They can have their own trust funds. They would feel much more free and empowered. Savin people’s money is not one of the functions of government. We should all take individual responsibility to lift a weight off society’s shoulders.

Do you deduct your mortgage interest? What about retirement savings? Tax breaks like those are the same as government handouts - it’s just framed differently. What if instead allowing it as a deduction, the gov’t decided to send people checks every year? Still not a handout?
