OK. I'll bite. What, specifically, are YOU doing to increase the number of polling places and ease and convenience of voting in urban areas? Wrote answer is transparent BS if you aren't actively working to increase voting convenience for all, especially where it's harder now.https://twitter.com/justinamash/status/1037701488695562241 …

You’re fooling no one. Straight-ticket voting is designed primarily to make it prohibitively difficult for someone to win running outside of the major parties; it saves little time for partisan voters. To fix long lines, we need more polling places and a longer voting period.

We don’t vote on Michigan election laws in Congress. When I served in the state House, I voted to support no-reason absentee voting (http://www.legislature.mi.gov/(S(3dx254zk4wvfzijh13bjzzfj))/documents/2009-2010/Journal/House/htm/2009-HJ-04-30-036.htm …). I’ve been outspoken about the need to make voting easier. We must not do it by hurting candidates who run nonaffiliated.

That's all very well and good, but there are things you can do in the Congress to make voting easier for everyone on all 50 states. What legislation in Congress have you introduced?

Election process is traditionally within the purview of state governments, but I’m working on legislation to prevent the major parties from colluding to deny ballot access and equal protection to independent and third-party candidates. This will benefit all voters.

I find it very telling he’s more concerned about the possibility of longer lines than actually allowing people the opportunity and option to vote their conscious and principles

Congress has the power under the Elections Clause to make voting easier for federal elections in ALL states. Have you sponsored any bills to that effect?

Preserving a system designed to entrench the two-party system does a hell of a lot less for voters' rights than any system that requires them to stand in line, vote early or fill out an absentee ballot. I would take it a step further and outright omit party ID from the ballot.

Voting should be easier but you ought to have to demonstrate basic knowledge in civics in order to vote. Allowing any old ignoramus to vote is silly.

Here in FL, we went to no-reason absentee voting a long time ago, and I *love it*! With amendments, our ballot has become a novella. Additionally, I avoid parking hassles & lines, while having the help of @Google & various intoxicants that are frowned on in polling places...
