These lessons are getting old. What is your path to free trade? Stop criticizing someone that is taking it on and start proposing your own solutions.

Justin's delineated it many times. Remove tariffs and other barriers to trade. If other countries want to engage in central planning, then let them and see them fail.
-
So explain to me how letting other countries poor subsidized products into our market would make them fail? I agree it would be a wonderful world if everyone read Justin's economics bible and followed its principles, but that is not the way things work in real life.
-
Tarriffs hurt the consumers if the country that imposes them. Exports don't make us rich, imports do. Our trade goal should be to get the most amount of imports for the least amount of exports.
-
So we should remove all import tariffs and impose large export tariffs. Seems like that's the fastest way to achieve a large import excess.
-
We should stop using the federal government as a means of central planning, both for our economy and our individual lives.
-
I agree, so let's get busy on reforming the tax code and getting health care back to the private sector instead of wasting time complaining about tariffs that are not under the control of congress.
-
But they are. Tariffs are a power of the legislative, not the executive.

It doesn’t matter what potus does or says. You will be against it. Just another Trump hater in office. For now!pic.twitter.com/lpkL2Dwn4v

Justin calls them on a case by case basis. When Trump's actions follow the Constitution, free market principles and individual liberty, he sides with them.

Tarriffs act passed in 1789. Signed into law on July 4th 1789 by George Washington. Looks the the framers you want to follow believed in tariffs. That is what made this country great. Be American! Buy American!
-
The Tariff Act of 1789 was about raising revenue for a government that had none. It wasn't about some broader economic policy

I’m against an all out trade war. I hope this is a short term negotiation tactic.
-
Don't count on it. His reasons are solely to show his base how resolute and strong he is.
-
I don’t. I hope. Trump is completely unpredictable, but often underestimated.
-
Here are several aspects about which he's never underestimated: 1. His insatiable need for praise 2. His malice 3. His disregard for the Constitution and the rule of law
-
Number three has not been proven up to this point. If and when it is, Then let justice be served based on the law and the constitution.
-
Never been proven? Punishing or criticizing someone for exercising Constitutionally-given rights: Brennan, the press, NFL protesters. Profiting from the presidency. Trump University.
-
Nothing you have stated has been proven and are within his rights to do. He has free speech too. No one has been punished. Mere words. I don’t like his conduct at times, but nothing illegal. Profiting from presidency is just an allegation at this time.
-
What more proof is needed when he acts in plain sight? Furthermore, he is not a private citizen. What he does and says have profound effects. None are so blind as those that will not see. p.s. I get your handle
