What do you mean? Do you have any idea who Justin is? Or you just go around posting this to anyone that has an R next to his name?
-
I know who Justin is. Did I miss the part where Justin stood up like a man of integrity and defended the importance of a free press? Or did you imagine it while hero worshipping?
-
The correct answer is that you missed it.

Like for-profit immigrant detention centers?

When the government buys something, that is not a market signal.

So long as those profits are distributed equitably among a society
-
Then there is no incentive. Why work hard if you'll be rewarded the same as if you didn't?
-
Because you want to work and you find it meaningful.
-
What if I only find it meaningful to work half as hard as you and only on half as many days. Should I still get paid as much as you?
-
No, you’d get paid a quarter of what I do. But large estates and corporations would be taxed at such a rate as to provide you and your family with free healthcare, childcare, and elder care so you may not require the same income to get by.
-
Corporations would increase their prices, so you are the one paying for the "free stuff" anyways. Prices go up and you require a greater income to get by - the difference now is all those services are monopolistic in nature, so their quality is lower and their prices even higher.
-
That’s all speculation. And we already have monopolies (nationally and regionally) in healthcare, telecoms, airlines, etc. that are anti-competitive. You’re just saying you’d rather be victim to our present corporate monopolies than to some notional government one.
-
I'm not big on corporate monopolies either, but is it fair to call them corporate monopolies when they mostly exist because of government meddling? And at least with the corporate monopolies they're not stealing part of my neighbor's paycheck to pay for my healthcare...

Wow, so if an old lady falls over, I should first consider how I will profit before helping her to her feet?
-
How much will it cost you in money to reach out and help her up? Talk about a false equivalence.
-
So I let my neighbour borrow my log splitter. Should I have rented it to him?
-
It's yours to do what you wish. What you did was voluntary and out of courtesy. Still a false equivalence.
