A U.S. tariff is a tax on Americans. We, the American people, are the ones who pay “vast sums of money” to the U.S. government in the form of tariffs. Raising taxes on Americans doesn’t make us richer; it makes us poorer.https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1025833273191264256 …

....Tariffs will make our country much richer than it is today. Only fools would disagree. We are using them to negotiate fair trade deals and, if countries are still unwilling to negotiate, they will pay us vast sums of money in the form of Tariffs. We win either way......

But the unfair Canadian tariffs that the previous presidents rolled over for are ok? Fixing this unbalanced trade deficit is going to be short term pain long term gain. Let him fix it, instead of re twitting msm talking points. And yes I’m in Ag, and I support trump.

Again another BS argument. 30 years you all allowed other countries to subsidize their products and put tariffs on ours. Now we are trying to balance it out a little. Question: if tariffs are bad, why do other countries fight so hard to keep them on our products? Check mate ...

Nations that put tariffs on their imports hurt their own people and are poorer. Why would we want to copy dumb ideas ? Check mate

So China and Canada are poorer and want to hurt their own people and societies? I’m not buying that for a minute - it’s a totally illogical statement. And you still didn’t answer my question.

Yes China and Canada are poorer. They both...much more in the case of China want to control their people and higher prices and limiting choices is one way to do that. All socialist nations operate this way.

Again - your entitled to your own opinions your not, your not entitled to make up your facts. Check out China’s growth over the last 30 years. And Canada is trying to control its people?? Come back when you have a logical argument.

I have been to Canada over a 100 times and yes because it taxes it’s people very highly it controls it’s people far more than we do. The average Canadian has far fewer rights in every area especially in health care and free speech. Higher taxes equal lower freedom

You seem to be mixing thoughts. Canada isn’t putting tariffs on our products to control their people. They’re putting them on to control $ flow. They’re trying to make our products more costly to buy, thus making an incentive for their products. It’s all about making money.

Any nation that denies their people choices in what they can buy or artificially raises prices is reducing their freedom and wants to control them. It’s simply a form of high taxation which is more control over people
