Conservatives used to want to abolish DHS—as well as many other departments and agencies that bloat government. If only today’s members of Congress cared as much about defending the Constitution as they do about defending ICE, an agency that’s existed only since 2003.

Honest question: why do you think we need a replacement before abolishing ICE?
-
ICE replaced INS.
-
ICE didn’t replace INS. INS was all three of the current components (USCIS, CBP and ICE) under one big umbrella. Creation of DHS separated them out but put them and roughly 20 other agencies under an even bigger umbrella.
-
Well, if I were a politician, I would be rated "mostly true but not a complete answer"! I appreciate your claification

-
No problem - the enforcement part has always been there with INS and its predecessors, but I think people forget that when they think of ICE as some sort of new thing.

We have an alternative. It's called policing. If an immigrant harms me, I will call the cops. That is as statist as anyone needs to be.
-
The police don't deport people rube. They are supposed to detain them until ICE can take them. You should do a little research to raise that IQ.
-
Yes, hillbilly, that is the actual point. Criminals belong in jail and peace loving immigrants belong in America.
-
Ever hear of a thing called the 10th Amendment? It punctuates the fact that ICE is unConstitutional as fuck.

I guess we found the first Republican for open borders.
-
What giant ridiculous leap. Abolishing ICE will not open borders. Ever heard of border patrol?
-
The unConstitutional Border Patrol? Yes, we've heard all about them.

Inane?
@repdavetrott bragged about it like it was the cure for cancer! Now how about a resolution to abolish Russian cyber meddling in U.S. elections? -

Whose side are you on?

To quote from
#Chess, a musical that seems appropriate given current events, "Nobody's on nobody's side". All I want is government that stops trying to legislate hatred, stupidity, and ignorance and starts working for the good of all people.
