Earthquake going through the Baltimore police force after this message blasted out by union about city no longer covering punitive damages in lawsuits: “The successful citizen can file an attachment against your wages taking 25% of your pay ... I have been saying this for a long time. Start suing murdering cops personally and taking their pensions. Tax payers shouldn't have to foot the bill for police crime settlements.

I look at it this way...every officer should be issued a body cams, it must be active while on duty, squad car cams must active while on duty. Everything gets recorded. At the end of the day, it about checks and balances. If you're following procedure, nothing to worry about...

But what about when the video shows police killing people and there are no consequences? And when police get to control the release of video, video doesn't get released for years! #16shotsandacoveruphttps://www.theguardian.com/us-news/video/2015/nov/24/chicago-officials-release-video-showing-police-killing-of-laquan-mcdonald-video …

Good luck finding good officers to work in the city, this will only help the crime problem grow. Especially if officers think twice about stopping a suspect because their future and the future of their kids could be at risk, even if they use justifiable force.

Their malicious acts make it hard on the victins families as well. Missed work, lost wages, etc. We should care about that more than officers who abuse their authority.

As a taxpayer I agree with this policy. If a jury has decided you acted with malice that means you have 12 people who believe you did something egregious and need to be punished. Weird, LEO's dont seem to have a problem with 12 people dishing out punishment for those they arrest

Just do a better job. Yes its a hard job and overreacting and going from 0-60 is easier. The job isn’t for you if it’s too hard to effectively communicate and de-escalate situations that call for it and escalate situations that call for it and have wherewithal to know difference.

Unfortunatley for BPD they are also on the hook. They knew what these were doing and sent them out to do it anyway. They had knowledge, they had notice and they sent them out anyway. They are gonna pay they just want to dodge as much responsibility as possible.
