Because health care is a RIGHT. It's basic survival infrastructure. People have a right to clean water, uncontaminated food, fire services, etc., because they're needed for survival. Being forced to choose between debt or death is no different than holding someone hostage.

My relatives in Calgary & London are delighted with the quality of their healthcare. My US brother likes his health insurance ok, too, except for the two times he filed bankruptcy.. couldn't afford the co-pays.
