Maddow replayed the tapes. #JoeBiden's words were dismissive & callous.
On top of that, he refused call witnesses who were there, ready to testify on #AnitaHill's behalf.
Inexcusable...and frustrating that he continues to refuse to accept responsibility.https://twitter.com/trekkerteach12/status/1041886305242599424 …

How do you stop people from asking inflammatory questions? You were chair of the Justice Committee. You simply rule them out of order and set down a red line that further inappropriate questions will be treated the same. Imagine that ...
-
Not only that, but he himself asked several inflammatory questions. He also didn't allow her to call in witnesses to back her story up. He owes her an apology more than anyone else on that committee.

Amazingly bad answer. Also, he has no problem invading women's spaces any other time.
-
We definitely don't need another person who can't apologize to be president. He just can't seem to do it, it's weird as hell.
-
It is weird. Painful to watch.
-
its not weird at all though he's an incredibly entitled person with terrible views who has spent his entire career hurting people who don't fall into the narrow categories he reserves his "empathy" for he straight up doesn't think he actually did anything wrong
-
Well, I disagree w/ most of what you say, but you might be right that he doesn't understand his role in the Hill fiasco.
-
far too charitable imo - what seems more likely: an experienced politician in charge of a committee "didn't understand" what he was doing? or a man who is famously chummy with Republicans and made a promise to a gym buddy to get Thomas through knew *exactly* what he was doing?
-
Joe's outlook hasn't changed - to him Hill was an annoyance that interfered with an obligation to a (Republican) peer, and he did the "right" thing by making sure Thomas didn't get derailed that's why he can only say he "regrets" she suffered while disclaiming any responsibility
-
his treatment of Hill isn't remotely the worst thing he's ever done in terms of human suffering, but it's a pretty instructive microcosm of the man's values, priorities, & sympathies - and his inability to simply apologize makes it clear they haven't changed much in ~3 decades

Biden was Chairman of the Judiciary Committee. He was no a bystander. He wielded the same power Sen. Grassley wielded during the Kavanaugh Hearings. Not only did he have the power to determine how the hearings were conducted, he could have helped block the nomination.

More people need to realize Biden wasn’t the only person on that panel. As of today many of those other Congressmen are still in Congress. All of them should give her a apology, call them all out.
-
I do agree that it'd be a shame if people don't ALSO focus others who were involved, but...I really hope you don't mean this as any kind of counterargument to him being confronted on this right now. We can do both.
-
Agree, I’m just saying all should be called out. I watched all of Anita Hill. It’s was so degrading how unfair she was treated. That’s why I’m saying they all need to give her a apology.
