    When I try to learn a new language I usually start with a DNS dictionary guessing program. It gives me a good feel for everything. I used to write a port scanner, but things like file IO, 3rd party library use, and more complex sorting of data structures changed that

    My university had these in the CS TA office hours room around 2000-2002. I loved it because you could trade off on the dumb terminals so easily. I want the modern version of this with a strong intensity (a seemless distributes “computer”).

    A long time ago— like 15 years ago— I worked at Sun Microsystems. The company was nearly dead at the time (it died a couple years later) because they didn't make anything that anyone wanted to buy anymore. So they had a lot of strange ideas about how they'd make their comeback.

    There are a handful of things my brain never seems to shake throughout my life. One is interactive and/or computer generated narrative stuff (games, books, performances). This project lands in an interesting place for me — please buy a few books so this indiegogo is funded.

    "I kind of see what I’ve been doing over my whole career as a huge trip around the boundaries of what an interactive story can be." Had a great time with this interview for connecting to my past work and talking all things procedural storytelling.

    I want to make a depression game like Stardew Valley but where you catch little critters (programs) and breed them via classic genetic programming to produce more useful beasts. You’d be able to see their code. Maybe you’d unlock CRISPR.

    Security nihilism is a stalking beast I’m always aware of but never completely escape. I’d love to spend months leisurely reversing large systems without the taint of infosec but target / surface choice is 80% of the job (and skill).
