    Incredible to see how often absence of evidence of an effect is still confused for evidence of absence of an effect, even by card-carrying statisticians and methods oriented epidemiologists. It's almost like our brain can't accept when we haven't learned much from looking at data

    Same same for in Amsterdam; all PL/SE interested peeps you're welcome to coffee and shoptalk at our SWAT group. Trainstop=Amsterdam science park.

    You can do this even as grad student or jr fac. It takes some guts, but people are usually welcoming. Here: if you're in Boston, come by Brown; we're < 1hr and by train, so easy day trip, don't even need to pack your bags or rent a car. (Fri at noon is ideal.) »

    I just wrote the final report of my NWO Vidi TestRoots project that ran from 2014 until 2019. I honestly never imagined that *we* could do so much fun and interesting research when I imagined this project. Thank you to all who made this possible.🙏

    I'm on the steering committee of 2 conferences and I am strongly opposed to this. I know my colleagues on these committees will be too. This is a complete failure by to represent the goals of its members.

    many of our biggest (academic) publishing venues have signed a letter opposing open access. Pretty amazing to read this: (is there any defense of this letter? there is not right?)
