Anecdotally, root cause from observance is increased property tax / affordability ratio forcing property owners with little income out of their often multi-generational homes. Adjusted taxes based on income would help (yes, I realize there are many more factors).
The story is really about this: 1,000 families a mo. move to Denver and the demand for housing has pushed property values. The median price of a home has doubled in the last 5 years, to about $450,000.
