JUST IN: Ecuador’s Rafael Correa has been convicted on corruption charges, a blow to a charismatic (and controversial) leftist leader and his hopes to lead the nation again. This comes as Ecuador is being hammered by coronavirus.https://nyti.ms/2RhQCt0

While Correa did make improvements to the social well-being of Ecuador’s disadvantaged class, his democratic practices left much to be desired. He’s safe living in Belgium.
