Why? Counties have to count early mail-in ballots, in-person early voting ballots, in-person election-day ballots and ballots sent through the mail as late as last night.

County officials will count for several hours after polls close. Then they stop. Justin said that because of various election-related duties, officials would possibly not resume the count until Friday.
