My neighbor is a flight attendant. I asked him how he was and expected typical “good and you?” response. Instead he went into a long description of the passenger abuses and outrages and minor slights he is experiencing in the air. Tell people to be nice, he said. People, be nice.

I read The Submission based on this review. Finished it just before midnight last night, September 11. I am so glad to have discovered this book. Hard to read at times for the difficult questions it asks about how we remember 9/11. Highly recommended.https://twitter.com/juliettekayyem/status/1434664296286457856 …

This is example of how mandates may lead to dismissals. But alternative is what? Unvaccinated delivering babies? Waiting? These are clearly anti-vaxers. Story says this may just be a pause. In time, these will all be offset by the vast number of newly vaccinated. That is story.https://twitter.com/jojo04631317/status/1437031317905068033 …

Some will quit. Offices shut. Protests. And we will think that is the story. It is not. In the months ahead, the story is that the mandates will lead to vaccinations that wildly offset the detractors. They will want attention because they know this will work. Times’s up.

Many commentators keep saying (condescendingly) that those pushing for penalties need to listen to the feelings of the unvaccinated. But they, condescendingly, ignore what the unvaccinated are telling us. We were the ones listening. Check

Most of the unvaccinated just needed nudge. That’s all. They were consistently telling us they would move if burdened or deprived of some value to them. They got what they wanted. This will work.
