Hey, maybe the media should try keeping the spotlight on McConnell’s central role in political gridlock for a news cycle or two and we can all see what happens. Let’s try that instead of letting him declare himself a powerless bystander with minimal scrutiny by the press.

The goal isn’t to pressure McConnell directly. The goal is to pressure vulnerable Republicans who are up for election in 2020 so that those Republicans demand McConnell help end the shut down. Protesting McConnell is good for publicity, but it’s not the critical pressure point.

So if pressure doesn't work on McConnell, what does? <And by the way, it's very likely that Trump is pressuring McConnell to go along with him or he won't sign off on any of the judges McConnell has been pushing for. So in a way, pressure DOES work on McConnell, right?>

@JonLemire McConnell is fulfilling his life-time wish - to have as many ultra-conservative judges appointed. He'll go along with anything Trump says just to accomplish this
