This is pure a purely face-saving "deal" for the benefit of the dissenters' constituents since: a) Pelosi is likely to retire within a term or two, and b) if she doesn't and Democrats still hold the House in four years, nobody will hold her to it.

Bingo She’s 78, so would be 82 in 4 years. Two terms means she’s the lead adversary for the first two years and the lead legislator should Dems take back the White House and Senate in 2020. I think she bargained away nothing to them

It's disappointing to see fresh Dems reject the *decades* of hard graft @NancyPelosi has put in, enduring horrific abuse and misogyny along the way. That work paved the way for those objecting now, who should be thanking her for all she's done...for *THEM*.

This focus is so backasswards The question isn't when Pelosi will retire. The question is what is being done wrt succession planning, grooming new leadership, strengthening the bench. Speaker Pelosi isn't the problem; the weak bench is the problem.
