And how exactly do Republicans define "truly needy Americans"? Seems the only ones they believe have a right to ANYTHING are billionaires. They don't want seniors to have retirement (social security) even though they paid for that insurance all their lives.

Well, first, we define them as “Americans”. Immigrants are not Americans. If they were, they wouldn’t be referred to as immigrants. By limiting green cards to immigrants who cannot support themselves, we have more funds to help “truly needy Americans”. See how that works?

@Walmart and other retailers and food service companies like@McDonalds. How will the businesses in the service industry survive? Also, Military Spouses may be impacted. -
This may also hurt home health aids, LPN’s and housekeepers in hospitals, retirement homes and private duty. What impact will this have in care provided to the aging Americans who can no longer live alone? Many teachers aids and entry level teachers may qualify for benefits too.

I've worked in crisis intervention. We are at a time when FT workers still have to use public benefits. They can't survive otherwise. The average American lives pay check to pay check. One bill can break them to the point of needing help. This move is ridiculous.

How do people on immigrant visas end up in this situation? It says it excludes those granted asylum. So who is actually in this situation? NYT would be pressed to find 1 family
