I understand the argument for no statement. But it would have been no problem to let the flag stay at half mast. He didn’t.

Sparky Trump can not complete a proper paragraph. He should not comment at all about Senator McCain. Ever. Again.

A statement should come from the office of the President. Senator McCain deserved that much. Most presidents could put personal feelings aside.

It's all about Trump for Trump

Issuing a proclamation, releasing a statement from the White House and keeping the flag at the White House at half staff aren't Trump going out of his way to do anything special, they are simply presidential and civil. Don't need him to say anything, just do what should be done.

And in the end shows he doesn't care about anyone but himself. Again and again

The obvious answer to this would have been to preface his comments with something like "As you know, John McCain and I did not see eye-to-eye on many issues..." followed by a gracious statement about his life of sacrifice and public service. This isn't that hard.

But, Trump could then spin it as improving himself. I assume Trump has no concept of this though. He already gives himself an A+ rating and feels he is America's best president ever.

I don't want John McCain's name in Trumps mouth.
