A first lady's every public move, including fashion choice, is scrutinized for any scintilla of insight into her & the POTUS. That may not be desirable or fair, but it's true. Notable that 17 months in, Melania Trump apparently either doesn't know/care

Instead of having her spokesperson and husband speak out for her, I’d like to hear from her what she meant by it, if anything. She’s done nothing to help the children, or the country for that matter. That’s what I care about.

My thoughts exactly. I have usually figured she is hands off as she didn't choose her role but after yesterday, the gloves are off

I suspect this was planned, because look what people are talking about now: Melania, her wardrobe, what it all means, counterfactuals re: Michelle Obama, etc. Look what half the people *aren't* talking about now: child concentration camps.
