I recall a time when a VOA reporter had an interview w president of Haiti. Some of his comments were interpreted to be a call to arms. Some discussion btwn agencies about the segment or intv being dropped. Director of VOA stood his ground. First Am. Intv ran. No revolution.

what do you mean by “would not allow”? Why did you need WH approval? Did they simply make a request and you complied with it, or would you have been breaking a law by publishing it?
