  4. My mother is not expendable. Your mother is not expendable. We will not put a dollar figure on human life. We can have a public health strategy that is consistent with an economic one. No one should be talking about social darwinism for the sake of the stock market.

  7. An ER doctor tells me they know of more COVID-19 related deaths in the hospitals they work in than the number included in the death count. If you work in a hospital, morgue, or funeral home and you're seeing this, please reach out. DMs are open.

Soon, my clients will all either be writing or on sub, so I'm hungry to sign a new author. (Yes, I do have a few fulls to read; I'm getting to them!) I'd give my proverbial right arm for a big-hearted middle grade right now. Something a little magical, like HELLO, UNIVERSE.

  10. Whew—some very emotional cashiers and stock-people at my local Hanaford. So upsetting that they’re being berated and harrassed by shoppers. Please. Be. Kind. To. People. Who. Are. Working. To. Make. Sure. You. Have. Food.

  12. Please don’t get complacent this weekend. I know it will be hard, as this is really starting to settle in for many. Stay home. Slow down. Tidy up. Call an old friend, as they are hopefully home as well. Please behave as if you have the virus. So, be kind.

  13. Younger people listen up: 55% of NYS cases are ages 18-49. Young people aren’t invincible. You can get this and you can give it to someone older you love. You shouldn’t endanger your own health & you certainly shouldn't endanger other people's health.

You never know how much you love somebody until they’re gone. I’ve had so many wonderful years and wonderful times with my friend Kenny, but above all the music and the success I loved him as a wonderful man and a true friend.

Have had a tough time today deciding between novel edits, grading papers, & reading a book, so I've compromised with hours of scrolling Twitter in a state of paralyzed fear.

Teachers & librarians - As you share read-alouds & books with your families during this time, please consider featuring Asian authors as one way to counter the ignorance & racism we're seeing from those who are calling COVID-19 the "Chinese virus." Let's teach kids to do better.

An author asked this, and yes - we are still bringing books to acquisitions and making offers on books. Lots of them! The publishing world hasn't slowed down. We're all still going to need books. We're all still working. We have a lot of time to READ! :) :) Keep writing.

Hello to everyone who is NOT OKAY, who feels like everyone else is doing great, being productive, and feeling happy when you’re VERY MUCH NOT. You’re not alone. I had a bruising mental health week. Coming out the other side but sending all the love to everyone who isn’t there yet

Hi from 's daughter. My family remains heartbroken but every tribute to her legacy provides real comfort. Alas, we aren't on Twitter (she set the bar here so very high), but my dad would love to hear from anyone with stories or kindness at charles.e.schwartz@gmail.com
