Can we cancel the term “cancel culture”? It is really useless, besides being a constant talking point on Fox News.

Yes, please! I got into a big argument with lefty friends about this the other day. The term has no empirical usefulness - it's just a catch-all for things the speaker doesn't like.

The invisible hand?!??? Too deep dude, Especially when consequence culture is typically built on improving conditions for everyone. ( or, Did I misinterpret your meaning of the invisible hand ?)

When they stop canceling, they will stop calling it that.

I prefer Jon Haidt's term "call-out culture" which captures a broader range of problems, including social media discourse and the incentives for uncharitable and bad-faith readings.

Weird how for some reason it's not "cancel culture" when right-wingers are burning their Nikes or boycotting the NFL or MLB or Starbucks. I wonder why.
