So basically, the were incompetent, failed to communicate with themselves, and violated fundamental rights as a result. Not a good look. There needs to be a full inquiry, independently run, and I strongly suspect that will lead to compensation.

This evening all six have had their bail cancelled and no further action will be taken. We regret that those six people arrested were unable to join the wider group of protesters in Trafalgar Square and elsewhere on the procession route. news.met.police.uk/news/update-ar

Yes we need some more housing - especially affordable housing. Yes we need to help support the amazing tech sector here. Yes more investment in public transport is needed, desperately. But 250,000 more homes by 2040 would break Cambridge and destroy what is special about it

Utterly fantastic news - We've managed to win control of South Cambs! Overturning a very solid Tory majority in the process. Quite clear that the good people of South Cambs do not approve at all of what the Tories have been doing, especially regarding Brexit! I'm so pleased :)

Really good news that UK has unconditional right to revoke its letter under A50 & choose not to leave the EU. Now we need Parliament and the people to have the chance to do the right thing. It's increasingly clear that we are better off - and have more control - if we stay in.

This is a serious issue. As an MP, if you don’t go in for prayers, there’s a real risk of not being able to have a seat - and without a seat, you can’t participate in debates or ask questions. I don’t mind others praying. I do mind it being required to do your job.

In the House of Commons, there are only 427 seats for over 650 MPs. As well as implanting a religious ethos in the chamber, the procedure of parliamentary prayers gives Christian MPs an advantage over other MPs in securing seats, and being able to speak, at important debates.

Hi Nigel - you say, and I agree, that 'What happens in schools must be evidence-based'. Can you point me to any robust evidence that suggests there is a benefit for pupils from acts of collective worship, when compared to other communal activities that could be done in that time?

I've voted for the wonderful as the next Leader of . We're fortunate to have two great candidates, but I think Layla is the one who really has what it takes to communicate a powerful Liberal vision to the public, and get the traction and awareness we need.

This is serious. For the PM’s own independent advisor on the Ministerial Code to resign, because the PM chose to back Patel, shows just how clear cut he thought the issue was after detailed investigation.

I'm about to be on with to talk about why we should legalise and regulate cannabis in the UK. If we do that, we can make it safer, take profits away from criminal gangs, and get about £1 billion in tax. What's not to like? Criminalisation hasn't worked!

Very sad to hear of the death of the great Paddy Ashdown. A visionary leader and statesman, master raconteur, friend and mentor to many. He will be missed. No one who was there would forget his one and only DJ set

I was born in the US, and vote by post in California - San Francisco. Given discussions of absentee ballots in the US, I thought some people might be interested in what the ballot actually looks like! I think it's all quite surprising ... so here's an unboxing thread

Huge attendance at today's celebration of the life of Colin Rosenstiel. Among so many other things about him, he is the longest serving Cambridge City Councillor ever - and the Council was set up over 800 years ago. His, service, tenacity and determination will not be forgotten.

I agree with some of the resigning Ministers today that the proposed deal is not a good one, and would give us less control than we have now. No deal would be utterly disastrous - so there's only one option left - No Brexit.

I know for many today’s coronation is something they looked forward to. I wish them all the best and hope they enjoy it. For me and for many others, it is a disappointing day, setting the country back. I hope it is the last coronation we ever have. #NotMyKing
