    So... While my understanding of epidemiological statistical methods is a little rusty (to say the least) - it seems to me that creating a method of identifying the attributes of super-spreaders of the virus should be a priority. Forget the mean, worry about the fat tails.

    The “super spreaders” mentioned in this article are equivalent to asset class correlations breaking down (and moving towards one) during a market meltdown (just when you need them not to be one!) It is a rare (but catastrophic) event as seen in the GFC and the collapse of LTCM.

    CTRL-F "Fat tail" Uh-oh. Most events that occur naturally are normally distributed. Fat tails mean high probability of extreme outcomes. Asset returns have fat tails, accounting for rare market crashes. Fat tails are not good, more important than R0.

    URGENT msg for planners & firms who manage their IT infrastructure. Microsoft are releasing an update this weekend to fix an apparently "scary" bug to do with the way your computer encrypts your client's info. Make it YOUR business to ensure that your IT person does this ASAP.

    Sources say Microsoft on Tuesday will fix an extraordinarily scary flaw in all Windows versions, in a core cryptographic component that could be abused to spoof the source of digitally signed software. Apparently DoD & a few others got an advance patch

    Absolutely, and developers for third-party APIs will flock to platforms with greater reach (over user numbers). Cloud (va managed hosted) is an absolute must, of course.

    One thing I would point out is that measurement of scale is no longer number of adviser seats, but “overall reach” to Australian public. With that, and Cloud, last 10 year market dynamics will not be an indication of next 10 years.
