The Guardian is updating our style guide to accurately reflect the nature of the environmental crisis. “Climate change” —> “climate emergency, crisis or breakdown” “Global warming” —> “global heating” “Climate skeptic” —> “climate science denier”https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2019/may/17/why-the-guardian-is-changing-the-language-it-uses-about-the-environment …

Can you call “vaccination skeptics” “plague enthusiasts” as well?

Interested in the “global heating” change. The other two made instance sense!

People use global warming and climate change interchangeably, but they’re different. Global warming is the overall rise in global temperature, climate change is a change to the typical climate of a given area. Global warming causes climate change.

Good job! "Global warming" was always the worst phrase imaginable. It's hard to think of something more pleasant than "warming"

I think prof lovelock was calling it global heating 20 years ago. Nice of the @guardian to catch up. He also was skeptical of organic farming and a supporter of medium term nuclear power to put a quick end to fossil fuel use. Hopefully everyone will catch up to those ideas soon

Next... newspapers and other media should include some number about environmental impact of a company's work right next to their stock report.
