Mine was a reference to Vichy France in an article about sidewalk robots (ie San Francisco’s reaction to the robot invasion has been more Vichy France than La Résistance). I will never get over it, mostly bc my coworkers made fun of me over it for the better part of a year.

I don’t know that it was the “most amazing” but... I had a joke about 1970s gothic romance paperback covers in issue three of Elvira and I was convinced by higher ups that no one under 50 would get it. It’ll find a spot for it someday.
