My husband of one year (1960) was the Prez of the Young Republican Club in Plainfield NJ. I was expected to vote for Nixon. But I didn’t. So think for yourself before you cast your vote. This year especially.

It’s true! Celebrating the 50th anniversary of Margaret. 50 years - yikes! I’ll be on the TODAY show tomorrow (Tuesday) chatting with Hoda and Jenna at 10am.
Husb and I got our first dose of Moderna Vaccine on Friday in Key West. At last, something good about being 80+ and a 2 year Pan Can survivor (husb). No problems. Less of a sore arm than with flu shot.
The incredible @MsKathyBates will be playing Sylvia Simon, Margaret’s grandma, in the movie based on Are You There God? It’s Me Margaret. Kathy Bates! Cannot wait to see her in this role.
Daughter has made me the most beautiful quilt, hand stitched with love. It features tiny cats, chickens, and typewriter keys, all part of my life in Key West.
We are on season 5 of six. Whenever I’m feeling anxious (ha!) I watch a few eps and feel better. The perfect antidote to - you know.

1969 my book “Iggies House” featured sign on cover - stuck into yard of first black family to move onto street, by despicable character. “Go back where you belong. We don’t want your kind around here.” Hard to believe 50 years later Prez is saying same thing! Despicable.
We left Key West yesterday and are now in MA where daughter found us a little house to rent in her neighborhood. No hugs. Masks. Social distancing. Dinner outside on opposite sides of her deck. But how good to see her.
It’s really happening! Exciting to see the cast come together. Off to a great start with Abby and Rachel.

Just what I always dreamed of. A rest stop on the Garden State Parkway to be named for me. It’s Monmouth. Husb was hoping for Cheesequake. Thinks that’s the funniest name he’s ever heard. As a Jersey Girl I’m used to it. Monmouth too. Husb is still trying to pronounce that one.

My Beverly Cleary book purse. Made by a librarian. Had to fight for it at a charity auction. I won. Worth it!
Sad to learn of Gary Paulson’s death. He was as honest with his readers as he was with me which is why they loved his books. I will continue to hand sell Hatchet and all his titles to the young and not so young. We’ll miss you, Gary.

A celebration via zoom of the incredible life of my cousin, Sue. Followed by a zoom wedding moments after we learned that JOE AND KAMALA won! Followed by joy and relief!

When I had kids I’d take them with me to vote. I wanted them to see from the earliest age how important, how special, it was to vote. How lucky we were to live in a country where every vote counted. Please let this be true in 2020.

Thanks all for your birthday wishes! Husb and I celebrated with dinner at a restaurant, outside, with friends. First time since before Christmas. Learning #AreYouThereGod is opening on September 16 was a pretty exciting gift.
Thank you all SO much for your birthday greetings. I had a fine day, zooming with family, hanging out with my honey and eating cupcakes. And today we celebrated the 5th birthday of . A lot to be grateful for.

You had an original copy. Belts and pins gave way to sticky strips in later printings. I once wrote a piece about that. I’ll see if I can find it.

I had 'Are You There God? It's Me Margaret' by our holy mother @judyblume- it was still confusing when it came, but it wasn't a shock - the confusion mainly came from the talk of hooks and belts - I came of age well into the 90s by which point it was all self-adhesive with wings!
For those who’ve been wondering where I’ve been for the last 5 months —
In Nov, husb had Whipple surgery for pancreatic cancer caught early (think RBG). Happy to say he’s doing very well and feeling good. More than halfway through his “mopping up” chemo. (Cont’d)

This was such a sweet and funny moment at the end of a long day . I thought she was buying it for a Mothers Day gift and I asked, “Do you know what this book is about?” “Yes, I do,” she said proudly. “My daughter-in-law wrote it!”

My mother-in-law bought a copy of my novel at @booksandbookskw and was surprised when "the nice lady behind the cash register" asked if she could leave me a note. I have literally been crying ever since. Thank you @judyblume. You are the reason I'm a writer.

I love love this book. It was very special. I remember all my friends and I vowed to read the book and see who finished first. I loved the TV movie with Stephanie Zimbalist who was a great actress portraying Margaret.
Anyone else remember cooking with soups? Margaret’s mom makes this for the Big Family Dinner. Everyone agrees the food is tasty. From there it’s all downhill.

When husb was undergoing chemo in Miami he’d get a small dose of steroid with each infusion. Next day we’d joke he could walk to Ft Lauderdale and swim back.
Back in Key West for 10 days between husb’s chemo cycles. He’s doing so well! Both of us happy to be home. I’ll be working most days. My therapy. Come say hi.
