    We extend sincere sympathies to the Paddon Family on the passing of Mrs. Sheila Fortescue Paddon, wife of the 7th Lieutenant Governor of NL, The Honourable W. Anthony Paddon. They served at GH 1981-1986. Mrs. Paddon’s name is on the Viceregal Board at GH.

    GH is glowing yellow in tribute to & in memory of sweet 9 year-old Nevaeh Denine who has passed following her struggle with cancer. Despite her struggle Nevaeh raised money to help other children struggling with cancer with her famous lemonade stand. She set an example for all.

    Aug 9 is International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples in recognition of the 1st meeting in 1982 in Geneva of the UN’s Working Group on Indigenous Populations. The day is celebrated around the world including at UN Headquarters, NY where a forum on indigenous issues occurs.

    A visit to the grounds of GH almost always includes a visit with the RNC Mounted Unit at the stables. So nice to have the not-for-profit organization, Vera Perlin, dedicated to helping individuals with developmental disabilities, bring them to see the horses, Harvey & Dr Rich.

    Ret’d Cpl JoAnne Gilliland Power is the only NLer who will be on Team Canada, Oct 20-27, for the 2018 Invictus Games in Australia. She made history in 1977 as the 1st Female Weapons Technician. Released from the Cdn Forces in 1985, she continues to target train. Congratulations!

    Pleased to attend opening of The Heritage Landing in the picturesque rural community of New Perlican. A unique historical structure designed to preserve the community’s history & the culture of rural NL, it was a project of Heritage New Perlican volunteer comm. Congratulations!
