She attended my circuit court investiture with Justice Ann Walsh Bradley and after the ceremony they sat at a table and chatted with my two kids. I will think of Justice Shirley Abrahamson every single time I walk up the Capitol steps into the Supreme Court.

Shirley swore me in in 1992 in a private ceremony. It was just the two of us. I had many contacts with her through the years and I will forever be grateful of her support when I ran for both circuit court and the Supreme Court.

I was only ten years old when she became Wisconsin’s first female justice but I knew her first as Dan Abrahamson’s mom. Dan and I grew up together attending Camp Shalom.

I am so saddened by the loss of an icon. Justice Shirley Abrahamson was a trailblazer in every sense of the word.
I am eternally grateful for the path she helped pave for women like me.
Rest In Peace Justice Shirley. You will missed.

I wish races for SCOWI would become less partisan, & frankly that expectations of SCOTUS were also less partisan. My intention wasn’t to emphasize a Dem comeback, as much as a democratic comeback. We need restoration of democracy & rule of law.

I joined my friend and colleague to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the 19th Amendment. While 6 of the 7 justices on the Wisconsin Supreme Court are women, that is hardly the norm for the judiciary as a whole or the other branches of government.

The swearing-in ceremony will take place at approximately 1 p.m., at the 35-mile mark of her route. Justice Karofsky will be sworn in by Justice Rebecca Dallet, who will run for a few miles leading to that spot, & there will be brief remarks from former Gov. Jim Doyle & her kids
