Frightening scenario for Dems is what if Bloomberg somehow swoops in and gets the nomination, leading to crushing defeats in November. The Midwest lost for a generation?

If Bernie can’t win a matchup against *Pete Buttigieg*—aided by what, some slightly muddled coverage of Iowa?—it was never going to happen anyway.

But who would drop out after this result?

As Biden sort of stumbles in various primary polls, would be interesting to see if he’s still doing better head-to-head against Trump than any of the other Democratic candidates. My assumption is his numbers will be down there too, but I don’t really know.

Freed from the bounds of hanging out with or even just making chitchat with their neighbors, people are happier than ever.

Given the condescending disdain for Midwesterners, the argument that Bernie is at least more electable than Bloomberg seems pretty solid.

The margin was no different in 2016. The reason the AP was able to call a winner then is that the IDP didn't release anything that people could use to verify errors/glitches off of, so there was little choice but to accept at face value.

    3. I’m not saying Chait should be prohibited from writing such things, but pieces like this are exactly why Bernie has won.

The fact is that the failure of elite centrists to back Warren when she surged is no small part of *how we got Bernie*.

I just tuned in to the President’s impeachment remarks and he’s talking about who he would cast in a remake of Perry Mason. God bless America.

When even decades-long Democrats recognize this basic point, it tells you how badly impeachment erred.

Among other things, if he’s the nominee it only helps if his storyline in part is that the Democratic Party tried to thwart him with a corrupt Iowa scheme but he prevailed.
