Here's a quick example -- pretty basic, but I'll iterate on them more after I get feedback. #screenshotsaturdaypic.twitter.com/wN8ma6HaGy

@jtown_ Wow. That is looking really amazing. Those panels might be enhanced by this unity plugin I saw this morning:https://www.assetstore.unity3d.com/en/#!/content/28238 … - View other replies

@mikelovesrobots I actually saw that asset recently too — looks pretty cool :) Might be worth it alone just to poke around the source. -
@jtown_ I've always wanted to get better at shaders. All I've made is one that flashes a sprite white while maintaining transparency. -
@mikelovesrobots I started learning with Prime31’s excellent yt series, then I got Shader Forge and that lets me do almost anything I need -
@jtown_ Looks like there's a node in Shader Forge called Blend that does everything this plugin does. Shader Forge looks awesome! -
@mikelovesrobots I think for blending with other objects, you'll need to do grab passes or frame buffer grabs like that plugin does -
@mikelovesrobots not sure how good shader forge is at that, but it can do refraction so maybe possible? Haven't explored that much myself

@jtown_ Oooh that looks good! How'd you blur the background like that? Render texture? -
@superdupergc yep! First I combine the different cameras, then blur and blit that to a render texture that the UI backgrounds use. -
@jtown_ Nice. I'm guessing you only need the one render texture and you can slice it up for multiple windows. -
@superdupergc yeah it’s just mapped to screen space - View other replies

@superdupergc just slap on the material, can move the windows around and it’s still aligned
