Fully agree! I’ve often wondered why teachers aren’t a part of school boards.

I imagine it’s because many school boards approve contracts and it would be a conflict of interest to vote for it. Either that or we’re all too busy correcting and planning.

I always find it so bizarre that school boards are, by and large, composed of people who have never worked in schools

In FCPS, they can’t be on the board and work for the same system. I know some have worked in neighboring school districts while they served on our board.
