What that piece is right about is Apple Music’s terrible matching and inability for the user to override/replace bad matches. It’s painful.

@jsnell I have so many broken albums and songs

      2. Jason Snell ‏@jsnell May 5

@jetscott I get how matching is hard, but its standards are too low and there’s no ability to override. “No seriously, TAKE MY FILE.”

@jsnell I find lots of albums now that have half been taken over by Apple Music, some cloud matched stuff, and albums split in half

@jetscott Yeah, a lot of tracks have been pushed to greatest hits, live tracks replaced with studio, it’s all true.

@jsnell I’ve had iTunes rename/move local files for no reason. Clicking on a title may or may not play that song. Started w/ Apple Music

@jpyguy yes, iTunes can do some bad things to your metadata, especially if you have it manage your files itself

@jsnell TL;DR #AppleMusic is an embarrassment, shows a mail-it-in mentality. For some of us music is too important (and, yes, Steve was one)

@b3_john I don’t entirely agree, but the forced integration of streaming w/ existing libraries was ambitious and has basically failed

@jsnell I can get behind that sentiment 100%!

@jsnell @jeffcarlson simple fix as well: give me a force upload option in get info.

@bradleychambers @jsnell @jeffcarlson Better yet, a dialogue box to confirm what they matched is correct; if not, upload.

@ronoffringa @jsnell @jeffcarlson it's the key feature vs Spotify for me, and it barely works.

@bradleychambers @jsnell @jeffcarlson It was for me too. Google Music is great too, just no Siri integration so I went Music, then Spotify

@jsnell I don’t have anything that’s been removed but I do have some duplicates, one original and one Apple Music (seemingly).

@jsnell @jeffcarlson I often have uploaded live albums revert to studio weeks after upload. It'll work fine for a while and then break.

      @jsnell Properly matching identical/redundant [possibly subordinate/dependent] local/remote objects fundamental to distributed client/server

@jsnell that Apple didn’t account for one track existing on multiple albums is, scary.

@jsnell I've had live tracks "matched" to studio tracks and/or "matched" from different albums. I just gave up on AMhttps://twitter.com/b3_john/status/728247770469924864 …

      John B. added,

      John B. @b3_john
@rosyna If only AM worked that way. Also, still HORRENDOUS iTunes Match issues, tracks not matched, mismatched/wrong version, bad album art.

@jsnell @jeffcarlson Yep. Especially bad when handling live cuts

@jsnell You nailed it. I've had to rename (and then delete and re-import) so many songs to force them to upload instead of match incorrectly
