@jsnell It never deleted my files, but it did replace live and alternate versions of songs with the same Apple Music album version.

@legopolis yes, the matching is no good. And there’s no override. But it doesn’t delete files on your hard drive. - Show more

@jsnell do you have both Apple Music and ITunes Match? Although not explicit, I suspect the author has only the former. -
@bobdel I used to have iTunes Match, but currently don’t. It’s not really relevant to this issue, though. -
@jsnell maybe the problem is having both (I do) since AppM and Match (I think) don’t use the same master cloud catalog for matching.

@jsnell I’ve lost tracks that Apple match/music could not recognize
-
@jsnell I believe Apple Music most fundamental flaw is a design so riven with dependency that it’s impossible to discuss in plain language. -
@jsnell Good to know, though I've got a 326GB music library, and frankly don't need a monthly fee to sometimes have access to even more.
-
@jsnell I believe the issues are with people who have iTunes Match and Apple Music Apple care had to reset my music and re-upload library -
@jsnell I've never had it delete files. Mess up metadata? Sure. Match the wrong file? Oh yeah. But never delete data. -
@jsnell my experience is the same. One thing I do know is using iTunes Match previously seems to made iCloud library matching more reliable. -
@jsnell my library is sitting at 12,000 songs, never had an issue either.
