TDCJ's new coronavirus numbers are up (525 inmates positive) but incomplete.
TDCJ said today 54 dormmates of a man who died were tested but aren't tallied because it was "surveillance testing" after a COVID lawsuit at the Pack unit.
Only "medical testing" is reported. #txlege

Also Beto prison is back with almost 100 inmates testing positive now.
More than 100+ Beto inmates had tested positive last week, but many were moved, and it was down to ~30. It's back up to 94 again.

OK TDCJ spox says 194 inmates initially tested positive while housed at Beto. So 100 men with coronavirus were moved from Beto to other units or maybe a few went to local hospitals.
What’s the difference between surveillance testing and medical testing?
Medical is when they have symptoms and a doc orders it, according to TDCJ spox. Surveillance is when it's done broadly for a group - aka all the dormmates of the inmate who died. Spox said that's the only time surveillance testing has happened.
Thank you for reporting on this. It matters that we all know. It’s crushing to know that the people in TDCJ custody are being mass-exposed to a potentially lethal virus whether they like it or not and so little is being done to protect them.

Does anybody enforce or monitor or make sure that TDCJ Has checks and balances in place ? Anyone monitor their numbers and test reports or do they just get to make all this up and nobody does anything about it?
