Buttigieg gets the benefit of being attacked by a right-winger whom progressives revile, to underscore a message of generational change and to demonstrate what a class act he is. The other candidates must be jealoushttps://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2019/04/26/buttigiegs-enjoys-good-fortune-hypocritical-bigots-attack/?tid=ss_tw&utm_term=.d71ca1ecaf9b …

What? He talks like a real live human, and doesn't have a history of gaffes. He's also a decorated veteran and Rhodes Scholar. It's not his fault that he's gay or his husband is cool.

Franklin Graham is bad faith without works, in action. I love that Buttigieg refuses to cede faith and religion to hypocrites.

JFK in 1960 and Obama in 2008 were able to frame their otherness (Catholic, Black) as “Are you prejudiced?” Enough voters did not want to see themselves that way. But the time had to be right for both candidates. Maybe 2020 is the time for Buttigeig to do the same.

‘It is hard to look at this president’s actions and believe that they’re the actions of somebody who believes in God’ is not just a sign that the religious left is successfully fighting the religious right on its own rhetorical turf,” Kirchick writes.
