so here's the thing---If Sinema still votes for the most part with Ds and keeps her committee roles (because she will want that/also helps Dems by giving them majority on committees) the biggest q is not about the DC side--its about whether she will run as an independent

Hear me out: 1. If there was any deal now for Whelan the WH would have done it (alternative was what? leaving Griner there?) 2. Boot had 6 yrs left to serve 3. If celebrity was the thing--Reed would not have come home 1st 4. they now have a better sense of how to get Whelan home

Two wrongs do not make a right. I know what said and did regarding Paul Pelosi’s assault & the pain he’s caused many Americans. But, it doesn’t mean we can’t offer love to his family & specifically his daughter right now. I hope she & they find peace & strength. 🙏

To be clear it’s all nominees just used judicial as an example (that’s a BIG priority to )

Big benefit of having 51 D senators for the @WhiteHouse is that Democrats will control committees in the Senate which means they can move through judicial nominees (without potential for process shenanigans) and also makes it harder for one senator to be too all powerful

Wow - @GaSecofState says this is looking like a record Election Day turnout for Georgia. Not just for a runoff, but period. More than November - more than 2020 Presidential election or the 2021 runoff. Not finalized but roughly 1.4 million votes on Election Day.

One big difference between Trump not campaigning with Walker and not campaigning with Warnock is that Warnock ran on record. Walker did NOT run on Trump record..(or anything really?)

Warnock will likely be leading on the the front end because of early vote advantage. #s won’t be a big surprise to campaign because they have been talking to these voters for 3 yrs (and they can match turnout with voter files) biggest thing is whether Walker can catch up

Time to talk about the history of runoff elections and the current burden on election officials and voters

GA SOS COO @GabrielSterling says SOS office believes "there should be a conversation" about the future of runoff elections in GA: "if we polled Georgians & they had the choice between a 9 week runoff, 4 week runoff & no runoff I have a pretty good idea where that’s going to land"

Just for expectation setting—as compelling as the Jan 6 Committee work has been—criminal referrals from the Committee are not binding. The course of action DOJ will take is not based on whether or not there are referrals

As we watch GA tonight, early vote was big (and big for Warnock), but that is DESPITE the fact the Georgia voter law cut number of early vote days from 3 weeks to 1 week, cut resources available to local counties and made it more difficult for voters to drop off ballots

Counterargument to GA trending red: 2018(Ds flip GA-06), 2019 (mayoral flips in Savannah, Valdosta, Dunwoody, city council in Rome, Statesboro), 2020(Biden win, GA-07 to D, gains=both chambers), 2021(2 Sen seats flip, gain 40 municipal seats, 2022 (gains=both state leg chambers)

If more guns and fewer gun laws made us safer, America would be the safest nation in the world. But 400,000,000 guns in the hands of civilians coupled with weak gun laws have given us a 25 times higher gun homicide rate than any peer nation. It’s the fucking guns.

No successful diplomat ever gave away something prior to a deal. Those calling for Zelensky to give Putin this or that before a deal, or even before negotiations have begun, have never negotiated with Russians before.
