When you believe that all code and learning resources ought to cost nothing, your community will be controlled by whichever moneyed interests fund all the labor you imagine to be free.

Clarification, because people (correctly) didn't believe he's that old: He's not old enough to get his license yet, but he's getting his temps in a week AND he's owned the car for almost 6 months (it didn't start when he bought it)

You don’t have to broadcast an opinion. You don’t have to parrot a news feed. You don’t have an obligation to comment. The great trick a text box plays is the impression you must fill it.

Personally like the Wimbledon all-white rule and the lengths they go to protect it. This re Serena Williams at the French Open, however, is preposterous -

Nike’s message to the French Open, who banned Serena Williams from wearing her medically designed catsuit to help prevent blood clots...all because the tournament chief didn’t like it.

Yo, folks. I’m going to be there by Tuesday (well, Monday night probably) and I’ll be around for a few weeks. We should grab coffee or something!

Tickets have been available for ~24 hours and already only 9 seats remaining for my 10/29 Ruby performance workshop in SF. I will open up other dates if it looks like it will sell out, but if you can only attend on Monday, buy now!

The folks at run radio stations WWV, WWVH and your 'atomic' clock's favorite station, WWVB. Unless we act fast, they may lose funding to keep these stations on the air. How can you help?

Friendly reminder as a fellow parent: never ever ever ever install spyware on your kid's phone. Seriously, do some "offline parenting" and talk to your kids about online risks, *never* resort to deliberately weakening their personal security

I’m a parent with young kids now coming online. I’m also a guy who sees a lot of data breaches and no-way no-how will I ever resort to installing this sort of product on either of my kids’ devices.
