Listing of cosmology researcher talks given recently at jrdmb.netlify.app/crt.html Earlier talks continually being added and are searchable. Do you know of a talk not on this list? Let me know, I'll add it. Criteria - publicly online & at min colloquium level or academic lectures

I took this photo some time ago, but this is the kind of clear, beautiful day we are having in the SF Bay Area today.

One of my favorite tweets ever! colludes with to surprise with his very own honorary #OTD post, paying an homage to his years of these great science posts. He's been doing this at least 5 years, hopefully he'll say a few words about its history.

Physicist Robert @mcnees, known for his work on black holes, cosmology, and more, was born #OTD. He is internationally renowned for making your twitter TL a better place, teaching countless students, having a really cute puppy, and being a great human being (photo cred @komcnees)

Impressed by this Academic Salaries website by as a great coding example of what can be created with github websites. twitter.com/PMocz/status/1 github repo: github.com/academicsalari Anyone want to point out other github site coding examples? => please reply with links.

With recent events and discussions around university pay, I created a website to anonymously collect & visualize academic salaries in hopes of promoting fairness through transparency: academicsalaries.github.io #AcademicTwitter

As a side note this just happened to be posted on the birthday of Ada Lovelace (in 1815). That wasn't intentional, it's just a "happen". Did name his dog after Ada Lovelace? I don't know, but it's a reasonable surmise.

.@tukohbin and @DD_Baumann shared some of their cosmology materials in this thread. Where's a central location for great refs like this? I don't know of one, so I made a start on it at jrdmb.netlify.app Anyone know of add'l materials not in this list? Please let me know.

My most interesting recent read - reclaimed loads of dumped, mostly new e-bikes, reworked electronics to work with app, and is giving them away! mas.to/@kvnweb/109309 - 1st 👏😍, 2nd - would love to read a more in-depth write-up about this.
Like many I follow who've said they plan to keep their twitter presence but also have a mastodon account, mine is @jrdmb@scicomm.xyz. Also like many have expressed, I plan to keep a main presence on twitter.

The extensive Description section for this video deserves mention for its exceptional thoughtfulness and helpfulness beyond just a quick paragraph: relevant links, timestamps to sections within the video, further references, etc. Thank you, very well done! 💯

What a creative paper explainer idea from first author on the DESI Survey. Somebody please invite her to give a publicly available cosmology researcher talk on this. h/t

My paper is out today!! To make our science accessible, I tried something new and scribbled @xkcd-ish notes over it: cmlamman.github.io/doc/fakeRSD_su I’m excited to see what y'all think of this idea Full paper: arxiv.org/abs/2209.03949 Thread about untangling the universe starts here 🧵

Screen shot of a greyed-out pdf. Over it is dark blue text in the xkcd font and doodles. The top cartoon is of two galaxies, ie ovals, angrily pointing at each other. The bottom left corner has many dots tracing out a web-like structure. The bottom right has a cartoon of a telescope with stars.

We discussed internally what to do with inactive repositories. We reached a decision to move unused repos to object storage. Once implemented, they will still be accessible but take a bit longer to access after a long period of inactivity.
