Just picked up a used, astro-modified Canon EOS 6D earlier this evening. Looking forward to learning how to use it for capturing the night sky. A full frame sensor would help!

I took this photo in December 2012, and it's one of my favourites. After nearly 10 years with more editing experience under my belt, and better software, I've decided to re-process it, for re-printing in a large format. Which version do you like? Poll in thread.

Every year tax records in Iceland are made public. I was hoping Iโ€™d be the person that paid the highest amount in taxes last year. But I was number 2 and I proudly accept that honor to pay back to the society that gave a working class disabled kid free education and healthcare.

Anybody use Mint Mobile as their (US) cell service provider? Do they support international roaming, and how much does it cost to receive SMS texts? Iโ€™m looking at porting my US number from T-mobile and lowering my bills but want to keep my number for 2FA etc.

Been a long time since Iโ€™ve done any astrophotography and Iโ€™m a bit rusty. Attempted to catch the Perseids meteorites (unsuccessfully) so here are some star trails at Barragem de Vale do Gaio (Vale do Gaio dam)

Hold a grain of rice at arms length. This is a picture of an area of the sky that grain of rice would cover, including fully formed galaxies of hundreds of billions of stars that existed billions of years ago, closer to the Big Bang than any picture before.

This is a super clever usage of streaming HTML and slots

I've been playing with streaming Declarative Shadow DOM recently and it enables some pretty unique behaviour - e.g. enamel.pages.dev - a completely JS free, backend agnostic way to deliver your page shell instantly and progressively load in slotted content as it's received

Olรก I vaguely recall you guys talking about photo printing last year. I have a few shots Iโ€™m hoping to print in large format canvas print (approx 100x60cm or maybe larger 120x80cm). Any suggestions for good printers in Lisbon or Portugal? Thanks!

I donโ€™t think Iโ€™ll ever work again for an employer that mandates working from an office. Itโ€™s done, over. I enjoy going in, and I like collaborating with colleagues, but doing it on my/our own terms has been 100x liberating. And Iโ€™ve been the _most_ productive Iโ€™ve ever been.

Make no mistake: a re-elected Morrison government is coming for LGBTIQ people. Our right to exist and be ourselves is at stake.

I love this thread, but I must also speak in favour of ยซ les gares des betteraves ยป. First off: please stop with urban sneering about beetroots โ€” or, as the English would probably say, turnips. Real people live in rural areas, and they deserve decent modern transportation.

Racing past Meuse TGV station. The French have a bizarre habit of building high-speed stations in middle of nowhere, naming them after an entire region. They rarely work. Colloquially they are called โ€˜gare des betteravesโ€™, because they basically serve beetroot fields. #train24

Apparently Iโ€™ve been on Twitter for 15 years now. I miss the early days when people were actually nice to each other and we would meet up. Glad to have made some IRL friends that I still keep in touch with (and sadly lost a few, RIP) #MyTwitterAnniversary

So, we bought an electric car! 2019 Kia e-Niro 64 kWh thatโ€™s only got a few thousand kms on it, practically brand new. All the fancy features: CarPlay, LED headlamps, sunroof, heated seats+steering (!!)
