it's the great paradox of AV. it increases the attack surface but reduces incidents. how do you want to measure safety?

I agree. A totally different example: how much of a problem is malware in general or ransomware specifically in iOS?

iOS is also a walled garden where the apps are pre-vetted. From a sysadmin view that's excellent. From a user view that's terrible.
