I know people hate to actually hear how their favorite comic companies treat their creators. It upsets them to hear this because they love the shows and movies- but the reality is here.

I've always been curious how residuals are calculated in such a collaborative medium. How do you break down & monetize what Brubaker, Epting, Brevoort, all the people that lead to the refining and informed the Bucky (Simon/Kirby) character into the Winter Soldier?

I dont know how DC and Marvel retain talent reliably other than benefits. If there was a union for creators that provided benefits as a group, they would have to improve their contracts to even get people to work for them.

DC essentially canned a bunch of their best writers in the late 60s because they had the temerity to inquire about health coverage. They were freelancers of course so they just stop getting assignments.
