🖥️Playing with some code for a blogpost using R v1.0.0 - released soon to be 20 years ago. The setup was surprisingly easy and the testing code works with very small adjustments. My appreciation for such long-term backwards compatibility cannot be overstated.

💡Did you know that using images from The Rocker Project can vastly improve the speed of your R code? 🔹Containerization is great for reproducible work 🔹But how about a ~60x speedup of matrix multiplication out of the box? 🔗

Want to help your favourite packages/books and have limited time? Just raising constructive issues helps tremendously. One example is the most recent issue raised by on my bookdown publication: . Thanks!

Random productivity tip: Find not just files but also functions across an entire project with the `Ctrl+.` keyboard shortcut. A huge time saver I use very often.

One of my goals for 2020 is to give back more to the community. Over the holidays, I enriched the content around Spark and compiled it into an open-source bookdown site. More details in the announcement blogpost 🔗

🎅I feel like Christmas is a great time to praise the tools freely available to all users. This year I chose 4 of my favorites for efficiency and reproducibility in a post with a few of their features🔗

A simple test is: 💻Login to your computer as a different user and try to run your script. It easily and quickly estimates what a different person might go through when running it. Reproducibility is difficult, which is why I like the R Markdown for this type of assignments.

If you do decide to just send an script: 1⃣ (How) will it run in the interviewer's environment? 2⃣ Is the data your read available to others? 3⃣ Do you use packages other may not have? 4⃣ Are you sending IDE-specific files? 5⃣ Are you sending platform-specific code?

TL;DR: I believe sending an R Markdown file + the rendered output is a great solution for this type of assignment. Reasons: You provide 1⃣ the code 2⃣ the documentation 3⃣ the graphs (presentation) all-in-one in a professional format ready to be viewed without running the code.
