Not quite. The top UN science panel has determined that a tax below $US135/tonne has no impact. Easily researched. Of more is the Liberal plan to keep existing regulations, with reference to add more. As we know, regulations are inefficient, & will add further, but, hidden costs.

If you’re worried about inefficient and costly regulations, that does appear to be what Scheer is offering if he’s disavowing carbon pricing.
-
The above poster is correct - virtually all peer reviewed studies require drastically higher costs to be applied. So sure, Scheer might be wrong in his critique, but shouldn’t you be equally concerned and vocal about a clearly inadequate plan.

Have emissions gone up in 5 of 6 years as stated?
-
What’s the rate at which they’ve gone up?
-
I'll take that as a "yes"

@journo_dale acting like canadians haven't done thier part to lower carbon at great expense with things like, led bulb$, low flow toilet$/tap$/showerheads$, thousand$ on new windows, thousand$ on insulation,$solar panels.. etc.. -
What do low-flow toilets and shower heads have to do with carbon emissions? Pray tell.
-
9% of Canada's electricity is produced by coal. In order to move water to houses, and in order for the sewage plants to clean the used water.. they need.. drum roll please.. electricity.. so when you use less water to flush, less water needs to be cleaned. *mic drop*

Yes .. but only when the tax makes living unaffordable, and the Nobel winning paper on this subject eliminated virtually all other taxes ... so stop perpetrating the liberal lie, in Canada this is nothing more than a cash grab.
-
Oh good, you're going to publish a peer-reviewed paper refuting the Nobel Prize winning one.
-
Go read it ... but it’s a much deeper economic theory than you likely understand. No government will ever have the guts to implement the policy as they proposed. The taxes governments are imposing are meaningless, and won’t change anyone’s behavior, that’s been proven repeatedly.
-
What about the EU evidence?
-
There is no evidence anywhere proving the Nobel prize winning theory works, it has nd er been tried. It is based on making all tax revenue CO2 based and eliminating virtually all other taxes. Read the paper or at least a summary of it.
