Meng's freedom being offered as a way to "open up space for resolution to the situation of the two Canadians” is more than just an intimation
"Suggest", then, as per the headline. Was there ever any real doubt, inside of China or out, that their seizure was related to Meng's case? Zhao's language is more direct than prior hints, tbs. But Beijing clearly wanted Ottawa to see the connection.
The point is the venue. Saying the quiet part out loud at a MOFA press briefing makes quite the statement.
