I opted for the high-speed train. 9 hours through China, with a window seat.
Flying back to Hong Kong after 6 months in Beijing. Cathay flight has more empty seats than full. Guess no one else wants to go?

Only journalists and govt workers. Why would anyone fly into Martial law if they didn’t have to for their job? HK’s place is the world has forever changed for the worse.

How CCP manages HK is great insight how CCP will negotiate with West. CCP truly believes they are the choosen ones and will not give an inch. CCP cannot relax closed financial sys or allow limited internet freedom. Bifurcated world between freedom & totalitarianism

I’ve heard scattered reports of people living on the Mainland being asked a lot of questions about their purpose for travel to HK during exit inspections, also being called in for tea before traveling. Many people just don’t want/need the hassle or risk it can bring right now.
