Seared with SARS in 2003, & already mobilized for protest against unpopular gov, HKers acted swiftly, collectively, & efficiently, in effect saving themselves. Organizational capacity & civic infrastructure built by protest played a central role in HK’s grassroots response.

The pain of SARS in 2003 and the distrust towards HK+Chinese government saved us from hell. We somehow overcame this shit because our brave medical staff struck for border closure + we wear face masks and practice social distancing. Nothing to do with the government.

The HK government has done an amazing job in testing, contact-tracing and quarantining. They closed schools early, ordered people to work from home and even supplied reusable masks to all. More than other countries have done. Deaths have remained low and all with no lockdown.

Not only HK Gov, but don’t trust official data from
#CCP and recommendations from WHO either!
