Is this banned in the homophobic China? Why those Chinese people know this drama? 
From what I know China only banned the production of such contents, but not necessarily import of these productions from other countries. They gained popularity as people watched them in sites like Bilibili, with Chinese subtitles added by some groups (which is actually illegal)
